COI metabarcoding was applied to the larval gut contents of the invasive hornet Vespa velutina to assess their dietary spectrum in Europe. Over 1500 larval samples were collected from Jersey, France, Spain, and the UK, and throughout the activity season of the hornets (April - November), to allow investigation of spatiotemporal variation in the diet and an assessment of the most at-risk species.
