The gunflint was used to strike the steel plate of a rifle to create a spark which would ignite the gunpowder and fire the projectile. Recovered from the wreck of the East India Company ship *Earl of Abergavenny*, lost in Weymouth Bay in 1805. Dimensions (max mm): length 36.0; width: 30.6; height: 11.1 The object was scanned by Maritime Archaeology Trust for the Nautical Archaeoloy Society with a HP SLS3. Post-processed in ZBrush.
