Agroforestry for Food Security Programme (AFSP)

This dataset was moved to: https://doi.org/10.34725/DVN/DPWJHSICRAF launched the Malawi Agroforestry Food Security Programme (AFSP) in 2007 with the goal of providing agroforestry options to smallholder farmers in Malawi that will enable them to increase food security through improvements in soil fertility, increase nutrition security and income diversification. The program has been implemented over 4 year period, from 2007 to 2011, jointly with government departments (Extension Services, Agricultural Research Services, Land Resource Conservation) and a local research and training institution (Bunda College of Agriculture). This dataset comes from a survey implemented to provide empirical evidence on the effects of fertilizer tree adoption on household welfare such as food security. The survey was carried in six districts: Karonga and Mzimba in the north, Salima and Kasungu in the central, and Thyolo and Mulanje in the south
