<p>The Edward J. Thias Collection contains 4 folders with prints of drawings by Edward J. Thias, 1965 - 1993. Included in the collection are approximately 25 prints of Thias' architectural renderings and projects, as well as St. Louis landmarks and views. Also included in the collection is one black and white photograph of Thias with St. Louis Building Commissioner, Ken O. Brown at the construction site of the Gateway Arch in 1965.</p> <p>Edward J. Thias was born in St. Louis in 1924. He served in the US Navy during World War II, and in 1951, he graduated from Washington University School of Architecture. Five years later, he opened his own architectural firm in Sunset Hills, MO. He played a key role in the development of the City of Sunset Hills, creating the first master land and zoning plan for the city. He also served as the Chairman of the Sunset Hills Zoning and Planning Commission.</p> <p>During his career as a professional architect, a free-lance illustrator, and a transparent watercolor painter and teacher, Thias completed more than 650 architectural projects, wrote and/or illustrated more than 20 books and calendars, and taught classes at two St. Louis-area colleges. He also served as President of the Missouri Council of the American Institute of Architects and Editor of Missouri Architect. Thias died in 2008.</p> <p>See also Edward J.
