A total of 35 mulberry samples were collected from the leaves of 6 HU(Hu mulberry, mainly from Taihu Basin), 9 NH (mainly from other parts of China) and 3 JP (mainly from Japanese) mulberry cultivars and buds of 5 HU, 9 NH and 3 JP. Total RNA was extracted using the Qiagen Plant Tissue kit. The paired-end (PE) libraries with insert sizes of 150 bp following standard Illumina protocols were prepared and sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq platform.
