Map of potential geothermal geothermal Rhineland Group (COP 15, Tretour 35) contour

On behalf of the province of Zuid-Holland, IF-Technology conducted the study ‘Potential geothermal energy in Zuid-Holland’, 2 December 2016. This map shows an indication of the number of potential geothermal systems. For this purpose, a grid of 1.5 by 3.0 km (the size corresponding to the space fitting of a geothermal system) was laid over the map and determined the potential per grid based on the potential map Rhineland Group. The potency is reflected in the average power (MWt) and the energy quantity (PJ) that can be produced within the grid with a single conventional doublet at a coefficient of performance (COP) of 15 and a return temperature of 35 °C.
