Flies were exposed to the mutagen MNNG (in liquid form in their food) and RNA was extracted from the whole body and processed using the rolling-circle library technique to measure transcription rates. In addition, flies were allowed to recover for 2 hours or 6 hours after initial exposure to MNNG in order to detect long-term effects of exposure.
