GRAMMATICAL BORROWING: THEORETICAL INTERPRETATIONS AND EVIDENCE FROM THE UZBEK LANGUAGE

Abstract. This article examines the theoretical foundations of the concept of grammatical borrowing, its interpretations in world linguistics and Turkological studies, as well as its manifestations in the Uzbek language. The study explores the relationship of grammatical borrowing with such linguistic phenomena as interference, calquing, and grammaticalization, and reveals its linguistic nature and underlying mechanisms. The findings demonstrate that grammatical borrowing should not be understood as a mere transfer of grammatical forms; rather, it represents the replication of structural patterns and grammatical relations through language contact. Consequently, grammatical borrowing is interpreted as a complex contact-induced process that contributes to the restructuring and functional development of the recipient language.
