Analysis of whole genome sequencing of Candida glabrata isolates

Epidemiology data of candidiasis indicate a shift in the proportion of infections in favor of Candida glabrata. Various sources report an increasing number of drug-resistant cases of C. glabrata infections. Source of the drug resistance often can be tracked to genetic mutations in genes encoding proteins relevant for the drug mechanism of action. Therefore, we have decided to conduct whole genome sequencing (WGS) of several drug-resistant isolates of C. glabrata and assess whether mutations in selected genes are corelated to the results of susceptibility analysis.
