Gallus gallus Kadaknath female parent genome sequencing and assembly

Sequencing was conducted on a trio family of animals. The male and female parents and their female offspring sequenced were of pure Kadaknath breed raised under institutional farm (ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad). Blood sample collection was conducted at ICAR-DPR organized farm and sequencing of the offspring was done with Pacific long reads (Sequel II), HiC and Illumina short reads at Nucleome Informatics Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, India. Genome sequencing of the paternal and maternal birds were carried out using the Illumina short read sequencing at Nucleome Informatics Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, India. This allowed assembly of choromosomes of both the paternal and maternal haplotypes. This genomic resource will be helpful in understanding the underlying genetic basis of economically important and health related traits. It will also help to further augment the genomic research of chicken as well to fast track the genetic improvement of chicken breeds.
