Since the 28th of April 2026, a large wildfire, driven by strong winds, is affecting a wooded area surrounded by urban settlements on the border between the provinces of Pisa and Lucca. Numerous aircrafts and teams are deployed, with evacuations and assistance being provided to over 2,000 people. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide wildfire extent emergency mapping and damage assessment.
