资源简介:
During 1987, MAAR Associates, Inc. (MAI) conducted a cultural resource evaluation survey for site 44PG299 at Fort Lee in Prince George County, Virginia. The evaluation survey consisted of both a physical examination of the site and an historic documents research. It was conducted in compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA) and implementing regulations requiring federal agencies to inventory and evaluate all cultural resources located on property owned by the federal government. This report presents the findings of the investigation and outlines recommendations concerning the future management of site 44PG299.
This historic military site is located near the top of a broad ridge approximately 1500 feet west of Saratoga Drive (Figures 1 and 2). Vegetation in the area consists of a mature, predominantly deciduous forest with a light understory. Situated at an elevation of 110 feet above sea level, the area around 44PG299 is drained by Bailey Creek (James River drainage), which is located 700 feet to the west.
