Vietnam is aiming for the elimination of malaria by 2030. However, the emergence and spread of drug resistance in the region could strain recent progress in reducing malaria cases. To tackle this problem, this study provided molecular surveillance data obtained from routine collections in 8 provinces in Vietnam (n= 35 samples) using a highly multiplexed NGS sequencing assay (AmpliSeq Pf Vietnam v2 assay ) constructed specifically for P. falciparum in Vietnam. As such, the AmpliSeq assay serves as a molecular surveillance tool consisting of a panel of 14 putative drug resistance genes, barcode for within-country analysis of parasite dynamics, KEL1-lineage markers, and hrp2/3 that can be conducted in a 3-day protocol. WGS data was used to develop the SNP barcode in the assay. This allowed us to provide knowledge on the spread and evolution of drug resistance markers in Vietnam and the dynamics of the parasite population undergoing interruption of transmission. This project contains the raw sequencing data of AmpliSeq and WGS data.
