The reactor is divided into two zones: an upper membrane biofilm zone and a lower granular sludge zone. To study the shifts in microbial community structure under varying influent loadings, granular sludge and biofilm samples were gathered on days 56, 131, and 230, with each sample being collected three times and thoroughly mixed.
