Pigeonpea Nodule Microbiome of cultivated and wild species from major Indian soil types

The nodule microbiome, which is shaped by multiple factors, such as the root microbiome, possesses a unique microbiota for symbiotic nitrogen fixation in legumes. The majority of studies have focused on the nodule microbial community from the perspective of nitrogen fixation, but limited studies are available on several agroclimatic factors that shape the pigeonpea microbiome. Our results highlight the hitherto unexplored microbial diversity associated with pigeonpea nodules across diverse Indian soils from various geo-climatic locations, with varying edaphic features and agricultural practices.
