Resequencing of red deer (Cervus elaphus)

For this population-genomics study of red deer (Cervus elaphus), samples have been collected and sequenced (10-30x depth) from the entire species range, spanning from Iberia and the British Isles in the west to Iran and the Caucasus in the east. Except for Crimean red deer, all currently described subspecies are included. Not included are the sister species of Central Asian red deer (Cervus hanglu) or wapiti (Cervus canadensis). For the purpose of outgroup, two Sika deer (Cervus nippon) have been added.
