作为地球内部-外部,物质和能量交换的重要场所,俯冲带得到了地质学家的广泛关注。近期,俯冲带浅部逐渐成为研究热点,然而由于地质样品难以获得,因此俯冲带浅部水岩反应过程仍缺乏系统的研究。中国科学院海洋研究所深海中心孙卫东研究员团队刘海洋等人以国际大洋发现计划(IODP)366航次钻探获得的马里亚纳弧前泥火山中变质基性岩样品为研究对象,开展了详细的岩相学、元素地球化学、矿物化学和B同位素地球化学研究,研究结果有效揭示了俯冲带弧前区域的流体活动和变质脱水过程,为揭示俯冲带流体循环及岛弧岩浆成因提供重要信息。

As a critical site for material and energy exchange between Earth’s interior and exterior, subduction zones have attracted extensive attention from geologists. Recently, the shallow portions of subduction zones have gradually emerged as a research hotspot. However, due to the scarcity of accessible geological samples, systematic research on water-rock reaction processes in the shallow subduction zones remains lacking. Liu Haiyang et al. from the team led by Prof. Sun Weidong at the Deep-Sea Research Center, Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, took metamorphic mafic rock samples from mud volcanoes in the Mariana forearc obtained by drilling during International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 366 as the research subject, and conducted detailed petrographic, elemental geochemical, mineral chemical, and boron isotopic geochemical studies. The research results effectively reveal the fluid activity and metamorphic dehydration processes in the forearc regions of subduction zones, providing critical information for unraveling fluid circulation in subduction zones and the genesis of island arc magmatism.
