Safety and Feasibility of Transcaval Aortic Valve Implantation with the LOTUS Edge System

To establish the safety of transcaval TAVI with the LOTUS Edge system. A single center prospective observational study was performed over the course of eight months. Median follow up period was 45 days. Ten patients underwent transcaval TAVI with the LOTUS Edge system with 100% procedural success. No patients suffered access-related complications or significant bleeding with either the expandable or static sheaths. One patient died due to periprocedural subarachnoid haemorrhage. Our data suggest transcaval TAVI with the LOTUS Edge delivery system is safe and feasible in patients otherwise unsuitable for transfemoral access.
