Mastitis-causing Staphylococcus aureus strain isolated from New Zealand dairy cattle. Staphylococcus aureus strain:09Dec2015-G-165 | isolate:SP216

This isolate was one of 57 Staphylococcus aureus isolated from dairy cattle in the Waikato region of New Zealand. The isolate was from a sub-clinical case of mastitis, with elevated somatic cell counts. The isolate was phenotypically resistant to cefoxitin and tetracycline and carried the mecA gene indicative of methicillin resistance.
