This paper examines the field of domestic violence (DV), specifically intimate partner violence (IPV), and its increasing scholarly interest since the latter half of the 20th century. Specific interest is given to the Liberian context using the 2019 LDHS. A literature scan shows that new research publications on domestic violence are consistently being published and covering a wide range of disciplines. The study explores the fundamental characteristics of perpetration, the recurring pattern of violence, and the impact on the well-being of women. Additionally, the study recommended interventions targeting IPV and their effectiveness in reducing recurrence in Liberia. The paper emphasizes the importance of establishing a clear definition of domestic violence and highlights its significant public health concern and violation of women's rights. The adverse health effects on women and the sociocultural aspects influenced by domestic violence are addressed. Overall, this research contributes to the growing understanding of domestic violence and its multifaceted nature.<br>
