Vision loss in Europe in 2020, by severity and country

In 2020, Russia had the highest prevalence of vision loss in Europe. In Russia, 3.8 percent of the population had moderate-severe vision loss, while 0.2 percent of the population is classified as blind. Over eight percent of Belarussians had near vision impairment that year, while 6.2 percent of Ukrainians had the same level of impairment. The data shows that there is a higher level of vision impairments in Eastern European countries, compared to countries in Western Europe.
