University industry collaboration dataset

The dataset was constructed based on the World Economic Forum's Global Competitive Index (GCI) historical dataset. The data collected is anchored on four main pillars that influence university-industry collaboration performance (UIC): Higher learning and research institutes (pillar I), Government involvement (pillar II), Resources (pillar III), and Absorptive capacity (pillar IV). The dataset records 21 indicators of over 140 countries on 4 pillars of university-industry collaboration performance between 2007 and 2017. The “UIC performance” measured using a scale of 1-7, 1 being the worst and 7 being the best, was used as a baseline for coding the class attribute (UIC). A UIC performance score below 3 was coded as “low”, a score between 3 and 5 was coded as “medium”, while any score above 5 was coded as “high”.
