Roper Social and Political Trends Data, 1973-1994

The Roper Social and Political Trends dataset includes selected items from 207 near-monthly public opinion surveys conducted by the Roper Organization or its successor organization, Roper Starch Worldwide, between 1973 and 1994. Report Reports 73-9 through 93-6 were conducted by the Roper Organization. Report Reports 93-7 through 94-6 were conducted by Roper Starch Worldwide. Starting in late 1973 and continuing for over two decades, about 2000 interviews were conducted ten times each year. Every survey contained a battery of twelve questions on participation in political and social activities, as well as, information about respondents’ demographic characteristics. With varying frequency, these surveys also include a wide range of other social and political activity items, ranging from television viewing habits to church attendance.
