Assessment of multiple citizen science methods used by ecotourists in two Australian Marine Parks

Citizen or community science projects in the marine environment, making up 70 percent of the earths surface, are underrepresented compared to citizen or community science participation in the terrestrial environment. In this case study, we assessed the effectiveness of ten citizen science methods used by ecotourists in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and Coral Sea Marine Park such as iNaturalist, CoralWatch, Great Barrier Reef Census, Eye on the Reef , environmental DNA testing kits, photogrammetry, social surveys, Red Map, as well as marine debris and marine vegetation collections.
