This dataset records statistical data on grassland type areas and livestock carrying capacities in Hainan Prefecture, Qinghai Province for the years 1988 and 2012. The data was compiled from the *Statistical Book of Grassland Resources of Qinghai Province* published by the Qinghai Provincial Grassland Station in 1988 and 2012.
