Estuarine ecosystems are subject to extreme weather and climatic events, particularly global climate change. To characterize the effects of extreme weather, such as heavy precipitation and cold waves, on phytoplankton communities, four seasonal cruises were conducted in the subtropical Pearl River Estuary.
