This study introduces a microfluidic platform based on fluorescence-activated droplet sorting for the rapid detection and isolation of heterogeneous vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus. We validated the system's reliability using clinical isolates, demonstrating its capability to effectively isolate and identify resistant populations. Genomic analysis further elucidated the genetic basis of drug resistance in hVISA strains. This microfluidic platform offers a novel technical approach for the rapid and precise screening and study of hVISA.
