In this study, three machine learning algorithms (Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine and Extreme Gradient Boosting) algorithms are trained to predict necrotizing enterocolitis. The original dataset is downsampled twenty times to obtain a distinct subsets with a 1:4 NEC:control ratio. After this, the three algorithms are trained on each subset using a stratified k-fold cross validation. Mean and SD F1-score and PR-AUC are taken as performance measures over these subsets.
