Deletion mutants for gene VLSPLA2 of Verticillium longisporum show reduced virulence. We sequenced the transcriptome of the mutants and compared it with that of WT V. longisporum. Moreover, the transcriptome was sequenced in Nicotiana benthamiana plants expressing gene VLSPLA2 or an enzymatically inactive version of the gene, in order to study the reaction of the plant to the protein.
