Wittgenstein Centre Human Capital Data Explorer (WIC) education-specific lifetables for five SSP base scenarios, 2020-2100

Given the five-year survival ratios in the Wittgenstein Centre Human Capital Data Explorer (WIC) projection outputs, methods were developed to generate country-level lifetables for five SSP base scenarios: SSP1, SSP2, SSP3, SSP4, and SSP5. This dataset includes both education-specific lifetables and overall-population lifetables by sex. The release covers 200 countries for each scenario and provides country-scenario RDS files for each lifetable variant. The education-specific lifetables preserve the original education-specific survival ratios (`sx`) as the canonical projection object. The overall-by-sex lifetables aggregate the education-specific survival ratios across education using projected population weights within each country, year, sex, and age group, with `edu = overall` in the output. A conventional life-table view is provided through variables such as `lx`, `dx`, `qx`, `Lx`, `Tx`, and `ex`, with a companion `sx_ladder_ex` diagnostic for old-age interpretation. The release also includes audit fields identifying rows where the conventional closed-table layer was repaired to satisfy closed-interval consistency while preserving the underlying `sx`/`Lx` ladder. The package includes metadata tables, country and scenario identifiers, file manifests with SHA-256 checksums, variable dictionaries, recode dictionaries, methods and QA notes, and simple R/Python examples for reading the files. Version 1.1, prepared 2026-06-07: adds country-level overall-population lifetables by sex for the same five SSP base scenarios.
