Whole Genome sequencing of Indigenous African Cattle Breeds. Genomic Reference Resource for African Cattle (GRRFAC)

The Genomic Reference Resource for African Cattle (GRRFAC) has been created through a partnership between African countries/institutes and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), under the Dairy Genomics Program of the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health. The resource comprises whole-genome sequences of indigenous African taurine (Bos taurus) and indicine (Bos indicus) cattle from Sub-Saharan Africa. The resource is envisioned to be useful for the design and application of genomics tools for the acceleration of local breed improvement and for an improved understanding of the diversity of indigenous African cattle populations.
