Professional descriptions from education.no

The dataset contains textual descriptions and classifications of over 550 professions. The professions are written by the editorial staff at education.no and are regularly quality assured by over 200 organisations in the labour market. All professional descriptions have a “comparison_id” that begins at “y_” and consists of ascii characters without spaces. Professional description can be obtained using either “comparison_id” or using the numeric internal-id used in education.no’s publishing system (which is not included in this API). Related Codeworks The professions are classified according to the occupational catalogue for the Standard Classification of Occupational Classification (STYRK-98), 400 occupational categories according to the standard for occupational classification STYRK-08 and the Norwegian Standard Classification of Education (NUS). In addition, they are tagged with interests, as well as that they contain links to interviews of professionals. Each professional description has a title field (title). This is usually stable, but changes in very rare cases where the profession changes its name. In the field “nus” the professional description is tagged with relevant educational categories that have meant to give a person the formal competence to practice the profession. This also contains historical NUS codes, i.e. educations that are no longer offered, but where there are still a large number of professionals who have this as an educational background. These are tagged with Statistics Norway’s official category system Standard Classification of Education, NUS. The codes they are either tagged with the highest level of detail, which are 6-digit NUS code or they are tagged with the Overcategory, which is 4-digit NUS code. Each 4-digit NUS code can one or more subcategories at the 6-digit level. The professional descriptions are also tagged thematically with interests. This categorisation is made by the editorial staff of education.no and is not related to national or international standards.
