Genome-wide DNA-methylation profiling of intra- and extracranial melanoma metastases. The goal of the study was to identify differences between methylomes of intra- and extracranial metastases. For each metastasis, FFPE material was used to extract genomic DNA from a punch biopsy of a marked metastasis area. The Illumina Infinium MethylationEPIC array was used for hybridization. Overall design: The cohort comprises 18 melanoma patients (P[id]). In total, 41 melanoma metastases samples were analyzed: 20 brain metastases samples (B), 8 lung metastases samples (Lun), 6 lymph node metastases samples (Lym), 3 skin metastases samples (Ski), 3 soft tissue metastases samples (Sof), and 1 liver metastasis sample (Liv). In some cases, multiple regions of a metastasis were analyzed, because they showed differences in histology. Such cases are denoted by an additional number at the end of the sample name.
