Amur ide (Leuciscus waleckii, Family Cyprinidae) can survive in saline and alkaline inland water. As an extreme instance, L. waleckii can survive in the high alkaline(up to pH 9.6)and saline waters (6 ‰ of total salinity). Therefore, sequencing L. waleckiigenome will undoubtedly facilitate the comprehensive discovery and understanding of potential molecular mechanisms of high-alkaline adaptation in teleosts.
