Flow discharge data at the outlet of each creek was obtained from a distributed hydrological model, HEC-HMS version 4.2 (USACE, 2015). The model was configured for the entire Huasco River basin (7242 km2), upstream the Santa Juana irrigation reservoir, as part of a debris flow mitigation project for the Chilean Ministry of Public Works (DOH).<br>
