This data and code belong to a study were we presented and analyzed a two-year dataset of NH3 exchange over a temperate Douglas fir forest in the Netherlands. The atmospheric NH3 concentration ([NH3]) was measured at multiple heights above the canopy in 2009 and 2010. We applied the aerodynamic gradient method combined with four different methods for roughness sublayer correction to calculate fluxes. The results with and without this correction were on average similar, but instantaneous differences can be up to 30%. We evaluated a 1-D inferential model (DEPAC). The observed stomatal emission potential (gamma_s) agrees well with values from literature and the modelled relation in DEPAC. The model performance strongly improved after implementation of a temperature dependent scaling factor in the external leaf pathway. Finally, we compared the 2009-2010 campaign to various NH3 flux measurements that have been performed at the same observation site since the early 1990's. This repository contains two zipped folders: Data The data zipfolder contains four files:  Speuld_2009-2010_data.csv --> This file contains the 30 minute interval observations collected during the 2009-2010 campaign.  Speuld_2009-2010_DEPAC.csv --> This file contains the 60 minute interval input data for DEPAC and three different output fluxes.  Speuld_1986-2010_yearly.csv --> This file contains all estimates for yearly deposition of N-NH3 and N-tot obtained at the Speuld observation site between 1986 and 2010.  gamma_s.csv --> This file contains previously derived gamma_s value, adopted from Table 5 in Wichink Kruit et al. (2010) R-Code The R-Code zipfolder contains code used to analyze the data. It contains a main script (MainSpeuld.R) which can be used to initialize the analysis and load the data. The rest of the code can be used to reproduce the figures in the article.
