Database on motives for the consumption of prostitution and paid sex

This database compiles the responses of 198 young Spaniards aged 18 to 29, selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling. The following sociodemographic data were collected: sex, age, nationality, occupation, educational level, social/economic class, religious beliefs and political ideology. The Motives for Prostitution Consumption Scale scale (MCP) (Dimitrova et al., 2022) was used; it consists of 20 items with a 5-point Likert-type response scale where 1=Strongly disagree, 2=Disagree, 3=Neither agree nor disagree, 4=Agree and 5=Completely agree. In addition, frequencies were collected for the consumption of prostitution; pornography; content involving explicit sexual acts with penetration; sexual content including bondage, submission, and domination; and content involving violent or non-consensual sexual practices, all measured on a 4-point Likert scale where 1=Never, 2=Rarely, 3=Sometimes, and 4=Quite often.
