Geological overview map 1: 400 000 (GÜK400)

The “Geological Overview Map of the Free State of Saxony”, which has been newly presented by the Saxon State Office for the Environment and Geology, 1: 400 000 (1992) is the third, substantially extended version of the map issued by the then Saxon State Office in 1930. If in many parts of the country the recent top layers had not been presented on the map at that time in order to make the geological construction of the subsurface more clearly visible, and in the 2nd edition of 1972 the quaternary formations were completely covered and the formations of the tertiary were only represented by distribution lines, the 3 rd edition takes into account both the immediate surface and the deeper subsurface.
