Genome and transcriptome analyses of a trehalose-producing dioecious tardigrade, Paramacrobiotus sp. TYO strain. Paramacrobiotus metropolitanus strain:TYO

Paramacrobiotus sp. TYO strain is a tardigrade which accumulates trehalose upon desiccation. The genome and transcriptome data of the species provide clues to elucidate the genetic backbone of trehalose biosynthesis and its evolutionary origin in the phylum Tardigrada. The strain exhibits sexual reproduction and thus the genome sequence is also beneficial for elucidation of sex determination mechanisms and forward genetic analyses.
