The firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus, is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae. It has been extensively used in a variety of morphological, developmental, genetics, and evolutionary studies. Here, we generated a chromosome-level assembly of P. apterus with a combination of long read PacBio, Hic and Illumina genomic sequencing data.
