资源简介:

Abstract. This article examines the structural, semantic, and cognitive characteristics of English and Uzbek proverbs and aphorisms within the framework of cognitive linguistics and linguacultural studies. Through contrastive analysis, the study demonstrates that while English proverbs function primarily as pragmatic, individualistic frames based on the source domains of "Sea", "Navigation", or "Commerce", Uzbek proverbs represent highly contextual, collectivist scenarios rooted in agrarian life, social hierarchy, and Eastern ethics. The author identifies a profound cognitive asymmetry between Western rationalism and the Eastern collective moral code. The results demonstrate that translating proverbs requires deep reconceptualization and frame-remapping rather than literal verbal substitution. The practical value of the research lies in its application to translation studies and intercultural communication methodologies.
