Metagenomic sequencing reveals the immense potential of the microbial community for synthesizing secondary metabolites

Metagenomic sequencing offers a powerful tool for exploring the potential of microbial communities in synthesizing secondary metabolites. Here, we performed a metagenomic study of our previously constructed microbial community to recover the longer metagenome-assembled contigs through hybrid assembly of the short reads produced by Illumina NGC sequencing technology and the long reads generated by Nanopore sequencing technology, thereby facilitating the discovery of biosynthetic gene clusters.
