This series registered and summarised action by the Public Solicitor's Office in relation to legal aid provided in criminal matters. For every application for which legal aid had been approved, the register recorded:the date of entrythe registration number (in a sequence which recommenced at one at the start of every new year)the name of the accusedthe dates and places of court hearingsthe chargesthe verdict and sentence or ordercounsel representingfeesPublic Solicitor's Office and Crown Law Office file numbers (respectively, VPRS 5272 Public Solicitor's Office Case Files and VPRS 266 Inward Registered Correspondence) andremarks (generally cross references to earlier and later entries in relation to the same matter).
