Microbiota of Chronic Wound Infections with Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Our research project employs cutting-edge Oxford Nanopore technology for the in-depth analysis of the microbiota associated with chronic wound infections. Utilizing the high-throughput capabilities of Oxford Nanopore sequencing, our project focuses on conducting whole-genome sequencing and metagenomic analysis of microbial populations within the chronic wound samples of patients. A key emphasis of our investigation involves the rapid identification of antimicrobial genes for clinical relevancy within the microbial genomes identified. Raw sequence reads and whole genome de novo sequencing of diverse patient isolates allows for accurate strain typing and antimicrobial profiling that will then be uploaded to various databases.
