Regional Territorial Balance Contracts (CRET)

27 First-generation Regional Territorial Balance Contracts have been concluded between the Southern Region and the Public Institutions of Intercommunal Cooperation that compose it. They allowed, to implement planning and development policies for projects that meet the needs of the inhabitants and in a logic of equality between the beneficiary territories. The amount allocated by the South Region to these contracts (approximately EUR 370 million) resulted in an overall financing of almost EUR 2 billion. Beyond the financial challenges they represent, CRETs are now the preferred tools for the implementation of the regional priorities of the [**Climate Plan**](https://www.maregionsud.fr/planclimat). The renewal of the “Second Generation Territorial Balance Regional Contracts” incorporates significant changes in this contractual policy to encourage territories to engage in an active energy transition policy; In addition, the projects making up the programming **CRET** must have an environmental aspect sufficiently demanding to allow the implementation of truly virtuous projects in relation to the axes of the Climate Plan: a carbon-neutral region; an engine of growth; a preserved natural heritage; live well in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. This demanding and qualitative evolution of the 2nd generation CRET makes it possible to decline the priorities of the Region in both the strategies, programs and operations of the territories.
