Manuscript in pencil in Ivor Gurney's hand. Another manuscript of the poem exists in the black manuscript notebook 64.5.6, and another in a letter of 27th August 1918 to Marion Scott, dating the poem 'St Albans August 1918'. Included in 'War's Embers' (1919). Written while Gurney was a patient at the Middlesex War Hospital.
