Grey wastewater from household contains many xenobiotic compounds including sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and causes water pollution. To degrade SDS, microbial fuel cell (MFC) was used, where anaerobic sludge collected from the septic tank used as the source of mixed microbes in the anodic chamber. Then the SDS was added with synthetic grey wastewater and used as the substrate in one MFC (MFC-SDS) whereas another MFC was kept as control (MFC-C), where only synthetic gray wastewater without SDS was used as the substrate. After the opration of these two MFCs, the anodic biofilm was collected and the microbial population dynamics were analyzed through next-generation sequencing (NGS).
