Nitrate, silicate, and phosphate data from Ships of Opportunity in the North Atlantic 2002-2007.

Seawater samples were collected from a series of ships of opportunity transiting between the UK and the Caribbean. Crossings occured almost monthly between May 2002 and October 2017. Roughly 90-100 samples were collected for each return journey from the ships underway system in 15mL plastic tubes and were frozen immediately for subsequent laboratory analysis by scientists at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton. Nitrate, silicate, and phosphate levels were measured from these seawater samples using auto-analyzers following the colorimetric method described by Grasshoff et al. (1999). The instruments used are a Skalar San++ Continuous Flow Analyzer from 2002-2008, SEAL Analytical QuAAtro Autoanalyzer from 2008-2012, SEAL Analytical QuAAtro and AA3 HR Continuous Segmented Flow Analyzer from 2012-2017. The associated position, temperature, and salinity are also included with the nutrient data.
