Klebsiella pneumoniae found in gut microbiota of infants from maternity hospital of Kazan

In 2017, maternity hospital of Kazan has reported the several cases of non-outbreak nosocomial infections of newborn infants caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae. The meconium samples contained no K. pneumoniae which were found in stool samples later. The symptoms did not manifest themselves for all the time of patient monitoring despite the persisting of pathogen. The multiple drug resistance has been confirmed by phenotype investigations. The source of pathogen strain or their number is yet unknown.
