Nature Diary of F. L. Berney 1916

Frederick Lee Berney (1865-1949) was a notable Australian ornithologist. He was a member of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU) from its inception in 1901 and served as its president from 1933-34. He also contributed to its journal, The Emu (his publications include an article he sent from Palestine during World War I – see link below).
Berney worked as a pastoralist for much of his life, managing and then owning property in Queensland. He had a particular fondness for the Bustard and fought hard to protect it from hunting by other landowners. His efforts contributed to the Bustard’s total protected status in every state of Australia.
Berney kept a record of his bird observations from 1898 to 1946. These “Nature Diaries” (17 in total) are now held in Museum Victoria’s Scientific Art & Observation Collection . This is Berney's diary from 1916.

弗雷德里克·李·伯尼（Frederick Lee Berney，1865-1949）是知名澳大利亚鸟类学家。他自1901年皇家澳大拉西亚鸟类学家联盟（Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union, RAOU）成立起便成为该联盟会员，并于1933至1934年间担任联盟主席。他还为该联盟的期刊《鸸鹋》（The Emu）撰稿——其发表作品包括一战期间在巴勒斯坦寄出的文章（详见下文链接）。
